The intent of the Point Perpendicular Lighthouse refurbishment project is to remove all HAZMAT containing materials from the buildings and surrounding area for ecological purposes.

This project involved remediation to the Lighthouse Keeper’s quarters to address lead, asbestos and mould concerns, with similar works taking place in the Assistant Lighthouse Keeper’s quarters and associated out buildings. Asbestos in soil remediation was also undertake in hotspots identified in areas surrounding the lighthouse.
