Form Projects was engaged to undertake hazardous materials remediation works at the historic Point Perpendicular Lighthouse precinct, with the objective of removing environmental contaminants and supporting the long-term preservation of this significant heritage site.
The project involved the remediation of the Lighthouse Keeper's Quarters, Assistant Lighthouse Keeper's Quarters and associated outbuildings to address identified asbestos, lead paint and mould contamination. In addition to the building works, asbestos-contaminated soil was identified and remediated within a number of hotspot areas surrounding the lighthouse precinct to improve environmental and ecological outcomes.
Delivered within a sensitive heritage and environmental setting, the project required careful planning and specialised remediation techniques to ensure the safe removal of hazardous materials while protecting the integrity of the historic structures and surrounding landscape. The completed works significantly reduced environmental risk and enhanced the long-term sustainability and preservation of the Point Perpendicular Lighthouse precinct.
