Form Projects delivered the refurbishment of the existing training precinct within the Garden Island Defence Precinct at HMAS Kuttabul, creating a modern and functional outdoor training environment for Defence personnel.
The project involved the construction of a new outdoor obstacle course and basketball court, supported by extensive civil and landscaping works. The scope included demolition and replacement of existing asphalt pavements, embankment remediation, installation of a storage container and associated electrical services, outdoor gym equipment, EPDM rubber surfacing, chain-link fencing, drainage infrastructure and sporting facilities.
During construction, Form Projects identified significant subsidence within the existing embankment supporting the training area. Working collaboratively with the client and specialist consultants, our team developed and implemented a cost-effective ground stabilisation solution that mitigated the risk of embankment failure while maintaining project programme and budget objectives.
The completed facility provides Defence personnel with a safe, durable and versatile outdoor training space, enhancing fitness, recreation and operational readiness within the precinct.
